In its second year, the Joint Office established the National Charging Experience (ChargeX) Consortium to improve charging accessibility and reliability, convened the Electric Vehicle Working Group and activated the first NEVI-funded stations.

2022: Setting the stage for successful deployment of a national charging network
In its first year, the Joint Office hired expert staff, including executive director Gabe Klein, established the Electric Vehicle Working Group to coordinate industry stakeholders, and saw approval of NEVI plans from all 50 states. It marks the first interagency office in U.S. government history.

In 2021, the Joint Office was formed by the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act), a once-in-a-generation investment in our nation’s infrastructure and competitiveness.
