Webinar: EV-ChART Data Format and Preparation Guidance

June 6, 2023

The Joint Office of Energy and Transportation (Joint Office) hosted a webinar on the EV-Charging Analytics and Reporting Tool (EV-ChART), that included providing a comprehensive overview of the data reporting requirements as authorized under 23 CFR 680.112. The webinar discussed the EV-ChART Data Input Template and Data Format and Preparation Guidance  which defines the tabular data structure of these data.

EV-ChART, set to be released in early 2024, will provide a web-based centralized hub for submitting electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure data under 23 CFR 680.112. EV-ChART will provide a streamlined data submission process and an integrated set of analytics tools, connect to other data sources, and empower data sharing and access among stakeholders, including the public.

Key takeaways

  • The Joint Office is developing the EV-ChART tool, which will provide a centralized hub for collecting and analyzing EV charging infrastructure data directed by 23 CFR 680.112 to reduce burden on states, charging providers, and other stakeholders.
  • The goals are to streamline and standardize data submission, integrate reporting and analytical capabilities, empower data sharing access across stakeholders, and connect to other databases.
  • EV-ChART is a web-based data submission portal and analytics platform that will enable data submission, curation, and consumption by various stakeholders.
  • 23 CFR 680.106 (procurement data) and 680.116 (3rd party data sharing via API) will not be collected by this platform.
  • EV-ChART will include one time, annual, and quarterly data submissions.
  • There will be various EV-ChART webinars, tutorials, and pilot groups in the coming months.
  • The Data Input Template and Data Format and Preparation Guide provide standard structure and format for data submission.
