Approaching Zero Emission Trucking

Nov. 6, 2024 12:00 p.m. ET

Hosted by: MIT Center for Transportation & Logistics

Speaker: Kevin Miller

Cambridge, Massachusetts

Organizer's description: Many CEOs have made pledges to significantly reduce their company’s carbon emissions over the next decade-plus - some even to zero. This is important to supply chain executives because a significant portion of most companies’ emissions are due to their supply chain – primarily transportation. Adding to this complexity is that for many companies, the majority of their Scope 3 emissions (indirect greenhouse gas emissions that a company is responsible for that occur outside of their own operations or assets) are caused by their outsourced freight transportation partners.

This interactive and invitation-only roundtable will convene key stakeholders—including carriers, shippers, academics, and government officials- to discuss emission reduction strategies and approaches for freight transportation. We will cover a range of zero-emission trucking solutions, including electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cells, and carbon offsets. Additionally, we will discuss methods to identify, measure, monitor, and manage Scope 3 emissions for freight transportation.

This event aims to share insights, discuss innovative technologies, and develop actionable strategies for adopting and scaling zero-emission approaches. Additionally, we will identify potential future areas of research. Learn more.
