Electric Vehicle Working Group

The Electric Vehicle Working Group (EVWG) was formed by the Joint Office of Energy and Transportation to make recommendations to the Secretaries of Energy and Transportation regarding the development, adoption, and integration of light-, medium-, and heavy-duty electric vehicles (EVs) into the U.S. transportation and energy systems.

The EVWG was established on June 8, 2022, pursuant to the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 (Public Law 117-58). The EVWG operates in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA), as amended, 5 U.S.C. App.

Activities and Objectives

Reports

The EVWG announced the release of the first in a series of three reports providing a comprehensive update on the adoption of EVs in the United States. The first report, Initial Priorities of the Electric Vehicle Working Group, provides a high-level overview of the EVWG’s plans to address challenges to EV adoption.

Recommendations of the Electric Vehicle Working Group - 2024 provides initial recommendations to address top challenges in the light-, medium-, and heavy-duty EV market.
